Car manufacturers Lexus have created an outstanding world first with their brand new tyres, made entirely from ice.

Giving driving on ice a completely new meaning, Lexus has not only pushed its boundaries and craftsmanship to the test, but have ultimately found a way to make their cars even cooler especially after their origami Lexus earlier in the year.

Hiring several ice sculpting specialists, the team looked deeply into how the texture and ice worked to create the perfect wheels, replacing the traditional materials of alloy metal and rubber.

Research, planning and creation of the wheels took around 3 months before the car underwent a deep freeze for 5 days.

Overall, not practical for a daily basis, we do however think the idea is pretty cool and, as a world first, Lexus have certainly pushed themselves in car manufacturing and quirky design.
